The predecessor of the Department of Budget, Accounting and Statistics (DBAS) of Taipei City Government was the BAS Office of Taipei, which was subordinate to Taiwan Provincial Government. With Taipei City upgraded to a special municipality on July 1 1967, the BAS office of Taipei was also upgraded to the DBAS. Subsequently, to meet the demand of developing municipal administration, the Electronic Processing Data Center of Taipei City Government, which was subordinate to DBAS, was established on July 1, 1979, renamed Information Management Center of Taipei City Government on March 1, 1996, and upgraded to Department of the Information Technology, Taipei City Government on September 11, 2007.
